Mary E. Arnold, age 88, of Austin passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 with family at her side. She was born on April 13, 1923 in Elgin, Texas to Loyd and Mary McCright and at the age of five moved to Austin. Mary graduated from Austin High School in 1940 and attended the University of Texas. She married Dwain Arnold in 1951. Retired from the Texas State Senate in 1989, Mary was a volunteer and supporter of the Capital Area Food Bank and loved to travel. She was a longtime member of South Austin Christian Church and the Austin Travis County Home Extension Club.

Mary is survived by her children, Richard Arnold and wife Joan of Raleigh, NC, Mike Arnold and partner Andrew Causey of Chicago, IL, Lee Ann Littrell of Austin, Loyd Arnold and wife Kathy of Austin; grandchildren, Crystal Beato, Meredith Bonnewell, David Arnold, Tiana Arnold, Wesley Arnold.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Capital Area Food Bank.

The family would like to invite friends for a gathering from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue.
