Dr. Manorama Asthana-Saxena left for her heavenly abode on June 17, 2012, in Austin, Texas at the age of 78. She was born on November 23, 1933 in Hyderabad, India to parents Kali Charan Asthana and Bhagwati Devi. She was the oldest of three siblings. She graduated from Osmania Medical College and served for over 33 years and retired as a Regional Medical Officer in 1991.
She is survived by two sons, Manoj and Avinash; and daughter, Aarti. She was a loving and caring mother to son-in-law, Sanjay and daughter-in-law, Shubhada; four grandchildren Prateek, Pranay, Maya and Shilpa to whom she has given much strength and inspiration to carry on her legacy.
She has passed on values of education, hard-work and service to others to everyone she touched. She made a special effort to reach out through her hobbies like food, gardening, health and reading.
The Saxena family would like to give a special thanks to Hope Reyna, Oleanna Thomas and the team at Hospice Austin for their wonderful care; and the staff at Weed-Corley Fish for respectfully helping her on her final journey.
Please join us at 4:00 pm Saturday June 23, 2012 at Saxena's residence 67 St. Stephens School Road for a religious ceremony followed by dinner in her honor.
