Christal Ann "Kiki" Horton Luevano passed away on April 19, 2012 after fighting ovarian cancer valiantly and gracefully for 3 1/2 years.
Christal was born in Bitburg Germany on April 29, 1961, to Hester Paul and Hildegard (Hofler) Horton.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hester Paul Horton, Dorothy (Redinger) Horton, Franz Hofler, and Anna (Sanktjohanser) Hofler.
Christal graduated from Crockett High School in Austin, Texas in 1979. She began her employment with the State of Texas in October 1979. Most recently she worked as a systems analyst for the Health and Human Services Commission until her death.
Christal was a friend to all, she was a sensitive and caring person who tried to be kind and helpful to everyone. She was very conscientious of others and put her feelings aside when others were in need. Even through her illness she was always there to help those that were enduring hardships.
At the time of Christal's passing she was survived by her parents; brother, Bobby Horton and his wife Judy of Austin; brother, Hester Paul Horton III of Buda; nephew, Paul Horton IV of Austin; niece, Andrea Rabel and her husband Brian of Austin; niece, Natalie Smith and her husband Josh of Copperas Cove; great-nephews, Mason Horton and Byron Rabel; great-niece, Kaylee Smith; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as many long-time and cherished friends including Lucius Martin, Codi Hass, Cheryl Arredondo and the Luevano Family, especially Janie and Richard Luevano.
The Horton family wishes to thank all of the many friends who dropped by for their last visit with Christal.
They also thank Dr. Mark Crozier and Cassie Gossett for their care and enduring friendship, Dr. Shannon Cox, and the staff at Seton Medical Center's Oncology Unit.
Christal's wishes are that you would honor her memory by making a conscientious effort to find someone in need and help them within the limits of your ability.
A Gathering honoring Christal's life will be held from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Sunday April 29, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to:
