Obituary for Virginia "Jinny" Erdmann

May 18, 1924 - April 16, 2018
Austin, Texas | Age 93

Wonderful Mom, Grandmother and friend.

Obituary

Virginia (Jinny) Erdmann, age 93, born May 18, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully in her residence at The Pavilion at Great Hills, Assisted Living Facility, on April 16, 2018.
While in high school Jinny met and dated her future husband Walter. After graduation, Jinny attended University of Wisconsin Madison. The WW II war effort interrupted her schooling and Mom worked in an ammunition factory, making 50 caliber bullets. Walter learned to fly B-24 bombers and was a decorated pilot.
When Walter returned from Europe, they were married in Milwaukee on July 21, 1945. Walter transitioned from the Army Air Corps to the United States Air Force in the early 1950's and the family followed him to multiple locations in Texas and Kansas. As the kids grew older, Mom changed from a stay at home mom to working in the insurance business. She worked for National Western Life Insurance company and the Texas State Board of Insurance.
Jinny was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Walter A. Erdmann who passed away in 2010, and her youngest son, Steve who passed away in 2011. Her brother, Arthur, and sister, Beverly also preceded her.
Mom is survived by her brother, Russ Scheribel and wife Char and their family; her son Tom and wife Dana, children Jackie Slatterly, Chris Oddo and family, Michael Allen and family, and Mark and family; her son Michael, wife Carol and daughter Nicole; and her daughter Patty Freeman, husband Jeffery (Pecos), and daughters Kimberly and family, and Kelly and family; and Steve's daughter Lindsey and family. Mom also has eleven great grandchildren. Special mention and thanks to her BUNCO group that rolled the dice together for more than 30 years.
Mom and Dad were members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and in Austin. They traveled many places on vacation over the years but particularly enjoyed spending over 10 summers in Keystone Colorado away from the summer heat in Austin.
A Celebration of her life will be held at Weed Corley-Fish events center in the Magnolia Room, 411 Ranch Road 620 south, Lakeway, Texas on Saturday May 26, 2018 at 1:00 PM, with a reception.
Please join us to celebrate this beautiful woman and reflect on the wonderful life she enjoyed with her extended family and many close friends.
