Lakeway, Texas | Age 65

Vicki K. Volick left our presence peacefully at 9:30 PM on Friday January 4, 2019 at the age of 65. Her graceful departure was with beauty and grace in her Lakeway home on Lake Travis beside her loving husband and son after a ten-month battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends over the holidays and was able to have many wonderful discussions. Vicki was able to say her good byes to her five beloved grandchildren which she cherished and adored. In addition, she was blessed to spend extended time with her two cherished children, her mother, brothers, sister, daughter and son-in-law and many nights with her loving husband discussing their wonderful blessings and beautiful life.

Vicki was born in Beaumont Texas December 17, 1953 to Robert and Joyce White, where she attended elementary school until her father transferred to Port Arthur Texas. Vicki excelled in elementary school and had many friends. Her dad was transferred to Houston after a promotion and her family resettled in the Spring Branch area where Vicki attended Westchester junior and high schools. While there, Vicki along with her two brothers and sister, Randy, Steven and Cheryl were raised with wonderful wisdom and guidance by Bob and Joyce. They have many wonderful stories of their childhood together and lead wonderful Christian lives.

Vicki graduated from Westchester High School in 1972 and went to the University of Houston. She married and had two wonderful children Marc and Alison Byers. After struggling to have children, Vicki always said that they were God's miracles. She truly loved and adored them more than life itself. She married Tom Volick in 1988 in Crested Butte, Colorado and lived and resided in the Clear Lake Texas area until 1989 when they relocated to Lakeway Texas.

Vicki and Tom Volick had a wonderful life together in Lakeway and enjoyed many similar passions of life including snow skiing, water skiing, tennis and mountain bike riding. They first started a successful business together in Houston then moved to Austin, TX and started NHRG, Technical Services in 1994. Vicki was a successful and diligent temporary personnel services operations manager before Tom and Vicki met at a large professional and temporary search firm in Houston. They fell in love on sight and were the love of each other's life. Inseparable for all of their thirty years, they enjoyed raising a family, building a successful business, and loving nature and outdoor activities 24/7.

Vicki was a consummate professional and had a wonderful career with Pencom Software where she started out as a temporary writing resumes and was later promoted to office manager, human resources manager and then general manager before she left to start NHRG, Inc with Tom. Vicki was known as a wonderful colleague and boss. She always made everyone feel at home and comfortable as she worked and led efficiently and diligently with a pleasant smile on her face. The staff of NHRG are already missing her kind and gentle ways. She was instrumental in growing NHRG to one of the most successful IT Staffing companies in Austin.

In addition to a very active career and raising a family, Vicki was very active at the World of Tennis enjoying and playing team tennis with many friends and neighbors which she loved. The feedback and condolences from so many have been and amazing testimony of how she shed her wonderful light of grace, beauty and dignity on the tennis court.

Tom & Vicki had a wonderful and blessed life with no regrets and two wonderful children Marc Byers and Alison Volick/DeStafano along with her five grandchildren, Avery and Cameron Byers and Rylee, Sophia, Ashlyn DeStafano that will all miss her gracious giving ways. Spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest passion. She had the opportunity to discuss with each one of them about where Grammy was going and that she will be seeing them shortly, knowing life is short on earth but there will be eternity in heaven. Another of her passions was quilting baby blankets for the children of her wonderful extended family of 33. Vicki loved hearts and always quilted a heart insignia on every one of her blankets with love.

Vicki's favorite bible verses: Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous; is not proud; is not conceited; does not act foolishly; is not selfish; is not easily provoked to anger; keeps no record of wrongs; takes no pleasure in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
