Obituary

Our beloved Susie Gomez Navarro, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 23, 2019, at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents Santos and Augustine Gomez, her husband Alfonso Navarro and her six beautiful sisters.

She is survived by her four children, Arthur Navarro (Ellien), Rita Cuevas (Louis), Catherine Navarro (Ben Torres), Joel Navarro (Sandra); 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly as her own.

Susie was born in Taylor, TX, where she met the love of her life and married on November 3, 1946. They were married for 56 years, until his death. She was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, and exceptional grandmother; who was so proud of her family. She enjoyed spending time at family gatherings, especially around the holidays where she so lovingly prepared all of the meals. She loved to get dressed up to go out for margaritas and listen to live music, most recently in October where she enjoyed an outing to see her grandson Aaron perform downtown. She also loved to travel; to Las Vegas or San Juan, and anywhere Cathy wanted to go. They were the best of friends!

Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior and was a devout Catholic all her life. She was a proud member of the Guadalupanas and the breakfast group at St. Julia's for many years. Susie never met a stranger, and was always happy to talk to anyone that crossed her path. She is remembered by many for her kindness, and smile that could light up a room.

Our family extends immense gratitude and admiration for our sister/aunt Cathy, for all of the years of loving and devoted care she gave to our mother/grandmother. Susie, or "Queenie" as she was affectionally called, was truly blessed to have her angel on earth, her bestie, Cathy. We are forever grateful for all she did.

We also extend special thanks to Dr. Marcia Fagerberg, and nurse Laura for their exceptional care.

Her physical presence here will be missed, but her spirit will live in us forever.
