Our beautiful mom, Billie June Sanderson (Sandy) Holt left us on Feb. 8, 2017, surrounded by family.
She was born in Norphlet, Arkansas on July 25, 1926. She attended Magnolia A&M and graduated from Louisiana Tech with a degree in Home Economics. Sandy worked as a home economist for Louisiana Power & Light. She married her love, George Holt on Oct. 25, 1952. Our family lived in West Monroe, LA and in Houston before settling in Austin in 1971.
Sandy was a passionate volunteer for St. David's Auxiliary for over 35 years, where she served as a board member and was a recipient of the Frist award for outstanding volunteer of the year. She also devoted much of her time to the St Matthews Episcopal Church and other organizations and committees over the years.
She was the perfect mom, attending our sporting events and school activities. She was a great cook, neighbor, hostess and homemaker. Sandy enjoyed living a simple life and loved tending to her yard and sitting on the patio with a glass of wine. Even after her life changed in 2013, "Hurricane Sandy" remained sweet and loving, and developed a knack for the sharp one-liner.
She was predeceased by her husband, George in 2002. She is survived by her daughter Laurie Eyting and husband Klaus, and her son Tom Holt and wife Heather, and granddaughters Shannon and Haley.
Thanks to the caring staff at Autumn Leaves and special friend Gladys Richardson.
A memorial service will be held at St Matthews Episcopal Church, 8134 Mesa Dr. on Thursday February 23rd at 2PM with a reception to follow on site.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics, St Matthews Episcopal Church Memorial Garden or the charity of your choice.
She will be missed, but she is back together with our dad and in God's loving arms now.
