Obituary

Robert Dominguez "Toro" Diaz, 82, Greentown formerly of Texas, passed away Thursday, November 23 at 3:07 p.m. Born in McNeil, Texas on June 7, 1935 to Manuel and Petra (Dominguez) Diaz.

Mr. Diaz had worked in radio broadcasting for many years as a broadcaster, music promoter and MC. He had worked for 13 years at WIOU as a radio broadcaster. Mr. Diaz had won #1 broadcaster for New and Innovative Programming with the American Radio Awards in 1967. He was a promoter and held Spanish dances at the Grotto and promoted Spanish movies at the Northend Theatre.

He is survived by his son, Robert Diaz, Jr. of Dallas Fort Worth, Texas, daughter, Debora (Jeff) Wittig, of Greentown, son, Rene Diaz, of Michigan, son, Rey Diaz of Ft. Wayne and son, Reno (Fedie) Diaz of Crowley, Texas. Many grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren. Sister, Helen Camarillo of Austin, Texas and brother, Tito Diaz of Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by parents, daughter, Petra "Patsy" Diaz and eight brothers, Joe. Silverio, John Paul, Manuel, Jesse, Pete, Marcelo and Juan.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, November 30, 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home 112 E. Main Street, Greentown, Indiana.

Per Mr. Diaz request he will be taken back to Texas for funeral services and cremation. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 4:00 pm, Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home 2620 S. Congress, Austin, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest.

Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
