Obituary for Rebecca Arzola Lucio

March 29, 1950 - May 25, 2018
Austin, Texas | Age 68

Loving Wife, Mom, and Nana

Rebecca Arzola Lucio (Becky), 68, of Cedar Creek, Texas, became our angel on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Seton Hospital, Austin, from complications following a heart attack. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Becky was born on March 29, 1950 in Robstown, Texas, the eldest of 3 girls to parents Julio G. and Maria V. Arzola. She graduated from Johnston High School in Austin in 1968. While in high school, Becky met the love of her life, a "younger" Antonio S. Lucio, Jr. (Tony) at a church function. With parents' permission, Tony and Becky were married on April 12, 1969 in Austin, and were blessed with two children, Tony and Kim.

While in high school, Becky was a cheerleader and very active in Vocational Office Education (VOE), a program designed to provide technical skills required in the business world. It was during this time, she was mentored by Linda Gale White, wife of former Texas Governor Mark White. This training enabled Becky to begin her career in the banking industry as Head Teller at First Federal Savings and Loan in Austin for 10 years. Following her banking career, she went on to work for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as an accountant supervisor where she retired after 31 years of state service. Throughout her career, Becky was dependable, meticulous, and a problem solver, known by those closest to her as "Eagle Eye" as she often could find the mathematical error "needle in the haystack."

From a young age, Becky was active in church ministries. She served numerous roles including: choir director, Sunday school teacher, pianist, vacation bible school coordinator, and youth leader. Her passion for ministry continued as they raised their children in Cedar Creek and attended public schools in the Bastrop Independent School District. But what Becky treasured most were her 5 grandsons, whom she supported faithfully. From attending school functions to assisting with clothing needs, Nana and DeeDee traveled near and far (Miami, Philly, etc.) to support their family. When not traveling, Becky loved tending to her house and flowers.

Becky Lucio was preceded in death by her father Julio G. Arzola, grandmother Luisa Amaro-Villarreal, and two precious babies. She is survived by her mother Maria V. Arzola, devoted husband, Tony of Cedar Creek, son Tony Lucio III (Amy) of Cedar Creek, daughter Kimberly Pandov (Todor) of Philadelphia, grandsons Nathaniel Lucio, Gabriel Lucio, Joel Lucio, Mason Pandov, and Jaden Pandov, sisters Evangelina Mendoza (Ben) and Mary Ann Soto (Ruben), and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone for all thoughts, prayers, and meals that have been provided. Thank you to Johnny Lack, Linda Guebara, and staff at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home for your attention to detail and care. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. David's South Austin and Seton Main hospitals. Also, thanks to Pastor Chris Peña and Foundation Christian Ministries, Reverend M.
