Obituary

Patrick C. Ryan passed away on October 6, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was 74 years old. Pat was often described as a man who was "larger than life." His smile, laugh, generosity and positive outlook on life touched and impacted so many people.

Born in Harmon, Illinois, Pat was the fourth of twelve children who all lived and worked on the family farm. He is known for the tremendously funny stories of his childhood growing up with his siblings on the farm. He left Illinois to receive his degree from the University of Dallas. There he met his wife, soulmate, and life-long partner, Yvonne Livaudais, and they were married on December 28, 1964. They started a family and ultimately moved to Midland, TX, where Pat purchased a Budget Rent-A-Car franchise. After Midland, the young family moved to Austin to purchase Budget of Austin. This was the beginning of many successful businesses, partnerships and adventures. Pat worked hard, and he played hard too. He fully enjoyed every moment of life with his wife, children, grandkids, great grandkids, and friends. For 38 years Pat was a regular Saturday morning golfer at Lost Creek Country Club. Besides golfing, he loved fishing, beautiful sunsets, and following the athletic endeavors of his grandkids. Pat also loved art and a good glass of Cabernet. Above all he loved life, family, friends, and laughter. He has left a great legacy for his family that is full of love, wisdom, and amazing memories.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Ryan; his brothers James and John Ryan; sisters Margaret Ryan and Kate Zinn; and niece Bridget Zinn.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Yvonne Ryan. His children Shannon Cameron and husband Paul; Mike Ryan and wife Jenna; Kelly Ryan and wife Melanie; and Aimee Gordon and husband Brian, all of Austin, TX. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren; Alex Hass and husband Clayton, Alex Cameron, Megan Adame, Tyler Adame, Reed Cameron, Sara Ryan, Corey Ryan, Dave Ryan, Grant Ryan, Luke Gordon, Mia Gordon and Cole Gordon. He has two great grandchildren, Addy May and McLaren Hass. He is survived by his sisters Mary McGinn (Doug) of Salinas, CA, Jane Zuniga (Manual) of Austin, TX, Kathy Ryan (Norman Denizen) of Champaign, IL,; brothers, Tom Ryan (Karen) of San Jose, CA, Dan Ryan (Kathy) of Kyle, TX, Joe Ryan (Mania) of Sterling, IL, Richard Ryan of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters-in-law Ginger Ryan of Scottsdale, AZ and Janet Ryan of Harmon, IL; and brother in-law Dick Zinn of Port Townsend, WA, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Pat's life will be held on Monday October 23, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. John Neumann, 5455 Bee Caves Rd, Austin, TX.

The family thanks everyone for their love, support and the sharing of joyous memories. The family would especially like to thank best friends Dr. and Mrs. Robert Emerson and family, Hlolodile Magombo, and Maliwase Banda for their friendship, support, care and love during this very difficult time.
