Orville Monroe passed away in Austin Texas on Sunday October 15, 2017 at the age of 80.

Orville is preceded in death by his wife Charlotte after 44 years of marriage, and by his parents Sidney and Millie Monroe.

Orville is lovingly remembered by his two children Kerri and David, their spouses Greg Morisey and Lisa, and his grandchildren Corban, Callan, Jackson and Carys. He is also survived by his three sisters and their husbands Mildred (Merline) and Floyd Johnson, Valla and Jim Henson, and Zelma and Preston Moore.

Orville was born in Paige, Texas in 1937. He graduated from Travis High in Austin and went on to earn a BA in Business from The University of Texas in 1960. After graduation he served his country in the armed forces of the U.S. Army from 1960 – 1968. He retired from the State Treasury Department in 1992 as the Director of the Securities division.

Orville cherished his church family at Central Assembly of God in Austin and later enjoyed attending Christian Life Church. He was a member of the church choir and often served as song leader. His other passion included numerous church building mission trips to Mexico and Central America. As a devout UT fan, Orville loved working for the UT athletic department during both Football and Baseball seasons. Orville was also known for his love of Volkswagens. He will always be remembered for his kindness, humor and love of puns.

A visitation will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd Austin Texas on Thursday, October 19th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

The funeral service will be held at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd Austin Texas on Friday, October 20th at 10:00 am with Pastor Rex Johnson officiating. A private family graveside gathering will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to the 40 Acres Scholars Program funded by Texas Exes.
