Obituary

Nikki O' Connor passed away peacefully on March 3, 2017 in Austin, Texas surrounded by family. She was born February 5, 1928 in Coolidge, Kansas to Nellie Bolander and Cleveland Polson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving daughter Peggy Ann Gauny and her five siblings; Delta Hall, Russell Polson, Nola Jean Burke, Sybil Burns and Thelma Branine.

Nikki was an avid lover of music and when she lost her eye sight, listening to all types of music gave her great joy. Nikki had a strong work ethic which she imparted to her children. She worked for many years and ultimately retired in 2004 as the Head House Mother for The Hardin House, a private dormitory on the University of Texas campus. Over the years, she loved meeting and assisting the girls in the dormitory and working with her Hardin House family. She made many life-long friends during her tenure. Nikki was a loving mother and mentor and will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her daughter Sue Mills and son-in law Jackie of Austin and daughter Caty Kahn of Los Angeles. She is also survived by four grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, multiple nieces and nephews, many loving friends and extended family.

Nikki took great joy and pride in her family and friends. Her counsel, support and unconditional love were gifts she freely gave to each and every one.

The family would like to thank her loving caregivers at Southpark Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as Heart-to Heart Hospice.
