Obituary

Nancy Lou Owen Iverson, artist and art teacher, traveler, avid reader, and beloved aunt died on October 18, 2017.

Nancy was born in Eastland on the plains of west central Texas on November 28, 1939. She left Eastland to pursue bachelor's and master's degrees in Art History at the University of Texas. Her studies lead to collegiate teaching, including eight years at Trinity University in San Antonio.

At a Christmas party at a lovely historic compound in Central Austin, Nancy met Rick Iverson. Nancy and Rick were married in 1975, and in 1978 that lovely historic compound became Nancy and Rick's home. Nancy happily lived there for the rest of her life.

Nancy was an artist at heart. She painted in oils and acrylics and constructed collages that were shown in galleries in Fort Davis and at Trinity University. She read eagerly. Her No Name Book Group was one of the few organizations that she joined. She traveled with Rick to enjoy the sights of Europe, though they recently concentrated their attention on Santa Fe and Big Bend.

Nancy is survived by Rick; her nephews and nieces: Denis Legras, John Owen, Jim Owen, Debbie Desgardins, and Sue Sweeney who are scattered from Maine to Washington State and down to Texas; numerous grand-nieces and –nephews, and her sister-in-law Jeanne Larson. She is also survived by a plethora of friends from Austin and beyond who gladly joined Rick and Nancy's numerous parties and dinners.

There are no services planned.
