Obituary

Our beloved Mollie passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11:00am at Weed-Corley-Fish funeral home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78705, with Rev. Barry Pritchard officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor, Texas cemetery. Viewing shall be Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Born February 19, 1934 in Taylor, Texas to the late Mary Amelia Sanders and Bert McNeil Poe, Mollie graduated from Texas City High School. Mollie then went on to attend business school in Houston, Texas.

On June 6, 1953, Mollie married the man of her dreams, Clyde Homer Doyal. Mollie was the First Lady of Pasadena, Texas for 8 years, from 1965-1973, during which she was also raising four sons, Scot, Mark, Bret and Eric. In 1981 she served on the inaugural committee for Governor Mark White, she always participated in the politics of her husband, Clyde, but, politically, this was her favorite "independent" role in politics. Mollie was a fantastic cook and always cooked from scratch, breakfast, lunch and dinner with desserts. Mollie was so very devoted to her family and God. She always placed God and her family first and foremost in her life until the very end. Even while she was battling cancer, she would always make sure every nurse, doctor and/or anyone within earshot knew about her four beloved sons. Mollie also had 10 grandchildren that she adored and they adored her. She had an independent and unique fondness for each grandchild. Mollie spent years taking photographs of her children and grandchildren and compiled volumes of photo albums which gave the viewer a complete visual of all of her grandest achievements, that being her beloved husband, children, grandchildren and all of the people that she loved and that loved her along her journey through life. Mollie was a devout Christian who almost never missed a service at the Church of Christ wherever she lived, and in every Bible she possessed she feverishly took notes during the sermons and would not hesitate to challenge the preacher, if need be. Mollie devoted her life to her husband, children and her beautiful grandchildren, and she lived a life full of love and laughter and will be missed until the end of time. Mollie was loved by so many because she loved so many.

Predeceased by her mother Mary Amelia Sanders and father Bert McNeil Poe.
