Obituary for Mitzi Van Landuyt

April 14, 1932 - November 20, 2017
The Hills, Texas | Age 85

Grace Rose "Mitzi" Van Landuyt, 85, passed peacefully on November 20, 2017 in Lakeway, TX of natural causes. She was born on April 14, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI to Otto Henry Ullrich and Josephine Regina Ullrich (nee Kische). After graduating from Libertyville, IL High School, she attended Marquette University where she earned a degree in Business Administration.

Mitzi married Raymond E. Van Landuyt, Jr. in 1956, and their 54-year journey together took them to multiple towns in Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Texas and Michigan before retiring in The Hills, TX. She worked briefly as a teacher, but her devotion was to her husband, family, and church.

No matter where she lived or what role she undertook, Mitzi quickly ingratiated herself as a newcomer with her warmth, wit, and hard work. She had a passion for cooking and opening her home to family and friends at every stop. She fulfilled numerous volunteer positions: Eucharistic Minister, Meals on Wheels organizer, Heritage Nursing Home spiritual counselor, and countless other parish roles. After her husband's death in 2010, she became even more committed to her church - as a faithful visitor to the Adoration Chapel and Bereavement Committee member. Her upbeat personality will be missed by all, including her Tuesday Night social group and regular golfing partners at The Hills.

Mitzi was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Jim, and her sister Mary Anne. She is survived by her sisters, Rose Kinnebrew and Margaret (Marvin) Kiefer; daughter, Jill (Jim) Christian; sons, Dirk, Dean, and Dreis (Jamie), six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home 411 Ranch Road 620 N on Tuesday, November 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, November 29th at 10:00 a.m. at Emmaus Catholic Church 1718 Lohman's Crossing, Lakeway, TX with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmaus Catholic Church.
