She attended schools in Pflugerville and continued her education at Texas Lutheran College and Southwest Texas, now Texas State University in San Marcos, and graduated with a degree in education. In 1985, Mildred and Ned moved to Austin to be with their family and friends. She was a faithful member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas and enjoyed her church quilting group, her Bible Study, gardening, baking, and being with her two grandsons, family and friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years in 2015, her parents, her sisters, Ella Pfennig, Nora Pfluger, Pearl Krienke, Edith Hodges and brothers, George Pfluger and Willard Pfluger.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Michael Marks of Austin; grandsons, Jeffrey Parker Marks and his wife Brandee of Houston and Jonathan Michael Marks of Dallas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
