Mary-Lynn Adams Polk, 70, of Austin passed away peacefully September 30, 2016. She was raised in Natchez, Mississippi, the daughter of Stacy and Cleo Adams, and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1967 with a dual-degree in Mathematics and English. While working as a computer programmer with IBM, she met Darryl Polk in Huntsville, Alabama, and they were married in 1972. Mary-Lynn settled in Austin with Darryl in 1976 and raised their daughter, Amy. She will be remembered with love for her faith, selflessness, and steadfast friendship.
Mary-Lynn is survived by her husband, Darryl, daughter Amy and her husband Patrick Murray, sister Marsha and her husband Neumie Roberts, and a beloved extended family across the country. In recent years, Mary-Lynn's pride and joy were her granddaughters Harper and Charlotte, with whom she shared laughter and made loving memories.
Mary-Lynn was exceptionally active at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Austin, a place she cherished and served for more than thirty years as a talented member of the choir and various groups including the Church Vestry, Altar Guild, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Bible Study Fellowship, and the Episcopal order "Daughters of the King." A memorial service will be held at St. Matthew's on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10:30 AM.
