Obituary for Marvin Eugene Rosenbusch

September 19, 1935 - August 24, 2017
Salado, Texas | Age 81

Marvin Eugene Rosenbusch, fondly referred to as "Joe" by close family members, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday night, August 24, 2017, at his place of residence. He met Jesus Christ with a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes. He was 81 years old.

Marvin was born on September 19, 1935, in Mudd, Travis Co., Texas, across the Colorado River from the current day Pace Bend Park. The original Rosenbusch family, who immigrated from Germany in 1894, made Mudd their home in the early 1900's and remained there until after the building of the Marshall Ford Dam in the late 1930's. It was later renamed Mansfield Dam. Many local men worked on building the dam including Marvin's father.

In the early 1940's, the entire Rosenbusch family relocated to the Leander, Liberty Hill and Bertram area. Marvin's grandfather, Max, purchased land near Leander where the family "scraped out a living" by working at the local rock quarry, cutting some cedar, farming, and raising goats and cattle. Life was very hard those early years, having just gone through the Great Depression, World War II, and the loss of the oldest child and 3 infant children, and an auto accident in 1951 which took their infant daughter. Marvin's parents had a very deep faith in God that carried them through those very difficult times. Their answer to, Why ? was, "It's not for us to question God, some day we will see them again and understand."

Marvin spent most of his entire life on the farm, helping his dad and two brothers with the goats and cattle, and working in the fields in the summer, picking cotton and baling hay. Marvin moved to rural Salado in the mid 1990's to be near his sister, Nancy and her family, and lived there 20 years before going to the Granger Villa Nursing Home in 2016.

Marvin is the 4th of 13 children born to Willie and Clara Rosenbusch. He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, Homer, Henry, James, Wilbur, Calvin, and Charles; and sisters, Myrna Broderick and Margaret. He is survived by 4 sisters, Emelia Alexander, Wilma Davis, Nancy Gilpin and Connie Roushia, and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Leander Chapel, 1200 South Bagdad Road in Leander with Pastor Billy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander.

Pallbearers will be Jason Gilpin, Gaylon Evans, Justin Evans, James King, Sam Tedford, and John Gilpin.

Rest in Peace, Joe. We all love you and miss you.
