Obituary

Marian Delores Gantt was born May 3, 1929 in Terrell, Texas to Opal and Carlin Gantt. At a very early age her family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she resided until the early 70's. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School and Stephens College. She was also a student at Julliard School of Music in New York City.

Some people go their entire lives without finding true love. Marian was blessed to fall in love with three different, extraordinary men in her life. They loved her dearly and were perfect for each season of life. She married Truman Arnold December 26, 1948 at First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi. They had three children and were married 31 years. Shortly after their divorce she met Ward Evans. After a three month courtship they were married at First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi on September 27, 1980. They were blessed to have ten wonderful years together before Ward was called home by his Heavenly Father. Marian had always loved to dance: she had taken ballet & tap as a child, taught dance to children in her 20's and at age 65 she started competing in ballroom dance. She was very good and won many competitions. Marian was a widow for ten years and her family was worried that she would not have a partner after that, but again God was gracious in bringing her (and us) Archie. She would frequent Donn's Depot because they always had a band and that is where she met Archie Roberts from Lockhart. They were married March 11, 2000 at First Lockhart Baptist Church where they promised to be loyal to each other in health and illness. Archie was a devoted caregiver and for that, her family will be forever grateful. Marian had a great, full life. Throughout her life, she remained young at heart. Thank you for being our matriarch, our queen of mischief, our mom, and our friend.

Our beloved and devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with her Heavenly Father on October 7, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by her loving husband, Archie, and her three children: Gayle Nixon (Mike) of Austin; Linda Kay Arnold of Austin; and Robert Arnold (Jo-Anne) of Frisco. She is survived by 6 grandchildren: Ryan Nixon (Callie) of Richardson; Melissa Mckee (Josh) of Dallas; Randy Nixon (Nona) of Austin; Jeff Nixon (Joseph Barton) of Austin; Brandon Uyeno of Newport Beach, CA; and Lindsay Lawrence (Josh) of Danville, CA . She was elated to have twelve great-grandchildren from ages 1-10.

She was blessed to consider Ward and Archie's family her own. She is survived by Ward's children: Barbara Loomis (Jeff) of Austin and Judi McQueary of Southlake. She is survived by Archie's children: Marilyn Eanes (Phil) of Round Rock; Carolyn Kasprzyk of San Antonio; and Kathy Matheson, (Randy) of Beeville. There are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren from these families.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 20th at City of Lockhart Cemetery at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Marian's name to The Alzheimers Association, Hospice Austin, Hospice Heart to Heart or your favorite charity.

Our special Marian, often called Mema by all, fought the good fight and finally won the race, and for this we are eternally thankful His victory gives us the strength to go on without her in our lives.
