Maria DeGrazia, 84, of Austin, Texas, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, retired salon owner and homemaker, died Friday, February 17, 2017, at Colonial Gardens in Austin, Texas.
Maria was born in Vizzini, Italy, to her parents Gioacchino Acciarito and Angela Vintaloro, and was surrounded by loving and caring family and friends throughout her life. She moved to New York City as a young woman with her parents, her sister Vittoria, and her brother John to start a new life. There she met her husband of 51 years, Alfonso DeGrazia, who passed away in 2013.
She is survived by two sons, Anthony and Robert, to whom she was steadfastly devoted. She is also survived by her beloved daughter in law, Lisa, granddaughter Daniella, and grandson Dante, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews in New York and Italy.
Maria was a woman who was fiercely loving and loyal to family and friends. She moved to Texas in 1985 to support Alfonso's Salon business, first in Salado, and ultimately in Austin. She was a source of comfort and joy to countless people to the end of her days.
Maria was a true lady with a compassionate ear, a generous heart and a sentimental spirit, which made her truly special.
There will be a memorial service for Maria on Friday March 10, 2017 at 1:00 pm at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 4311 Small Dr., Austin, TX. 78731 followed by a gathering at her home in Cat Mountain Villas.
