Linda Beall Caplin, 77, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2016 at her home in Pflugerville, Texas.
Linda was born June 15, 1939 in Hagerstown, MD to Robert and Jean Beall. Her father Robert, a Major with the 82nd Airborne, was killed in action during WWII. Linda was raised by her mother, Jean, and stepfather, Victor Tregea, in College Park, MD. She attended Mount Union College in Ohio where she received her Bachelor's degree in English. She joined the Peace Corps and used her degree to teach in Ecuador.
Linda moved to Texas, adopted two children, Jason and Julie, worked in retail management for over 20 years, and ran her own cleaning business in Austin for several years. Linda then moved to St. Louis where she attended graduate school at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. While there she made several great friends and received her master's degree in Educational Counseling.
Linda returned to Austin and began her third career as a counselor at Austin Community College. She put her love of theater to good use by founding the Peer Players with a fellow counselor. She retired in 2010 and spent her remaining days traveling and enjoying the company of her friends and family.
Linda is survived by her two children and their spouses: Jason Jewert (Betty), and Julie Jones (Chuck); eight grandchildren: Keshia, Claudia, Andre, Natasha, Anthony, Ryan, Jonathan, and Mackenzie; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Bill Beall, his wife, Judy, and their 2 sons, and many other close friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Barry Caplin, and her great-grandson, Marquis.
In keeping with Linda's great love of animals, those wishing to make memorial gifts may do so to the Austin Humane Society.
