Obituary

Kristin Lee Neiman, 56, of Austin Texas passed away July 10, 2018. Kris is survived by her longtime partner Robin M. Hasty of Austin; mother Judith C. Neiman of Sun City, Arizona; brother Mark Neiman and wife Diana of Phoenix, Arizona; sister Dana Wackerbarth and husband Bart of Butte, Montana; and nephew Aaron Wright and wife Dawn of Gallatin, Tennessee. She was predeceased by her father William (Bill) Neiman and niece Emily Wright.

Born January 19, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kris graduated from Leland High School, San Jose, California, in 1980. An avid athlete in many sports, she played golf as a youth but in high school opted for basketball, field hockey, and softball. Kris returned to golf after high school and worked her way into the women's golf circuit.

While on the Women's Amateur Golf Circuit, Kris made it to the semi-finals of the California State Women's Amateur Golf Championship at Pebble Beach. She set the Ladies Course Record at San Jose Country Club in 1985. In 1986, she won the Sacramento City Women's Amateur Championship. In that same year, she won the Amateur Flight of the Golf Coast Tour Tournament at Auburn Valley Country Club, Auburn CA.

Kris turned professional in 1986, playing on the Futures Golf Tour (now known as the Symetra Tour). While on tour in 1988, Kris won the Eastlake Woodlands Futures Classic in Palm Harbor, Florida and placed second in the Magna Milikin Classic in Decatur, Illinois. She left the tour in 1989 to attend Texas State University, completing her degree in Information Systems Management.

Kris held positions with a number of top technical firms, including MCI and Tivoli. She finished her career at IBM and was a co-holder of a patent entitled "A Method for Redirection of Instant Messages."

Kris was a lover of the arts in all forms, attending local theatre, concerts, and museums. She took classes in woodworking, pottery, and glass art, crafting beautiful wooden boxes in her woodworking shop.

For years, Kris was a constant caregiver and companion to her four- legged family, including her current golden retriever Gracie and the late Bears, Sierra, and Boots. She was also a loving caregiver to Robin's dog Onyx.

A service celebrating Kris's life will be held on Saturday September 8, 2018 at 1:00PM at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Austin, TX .
