Josie was the choir director at Travis HS and was a state judge for UIL competitions. She directed the choirs of Central Christian and Westminster Presbyterian churches. She blessed many with her beautiful soprano voice, and sang in the Austin Choral Union for many years. Dr. Champion is a past president of the Austin Women's Club, PEO, Knife and Fork Club, Delta Kappa Gamma chapter, and Wednesday Morning Music Club. She belonged to the Travis County Historical Commission, the English Speaking Union, Austin Symphony League, and was an honorary Scot of Austin. She was a lifetime member of the University United Methodist Church. Josie hosted many beautiful dinners and teas at her home.

The family thanks the wonderful staff at Westminster Manor for their kindness to Josie and her family.
