Joseph Folberg passed away peacefully on April 5 after a brief illness. He recently celebrated his 95th birthday at a party surrounded by loved ones and friends. He lost his beloved wife, Elaine, in the summer of 2015 to the complications of Alzheimer's disease. They were married 73 years.
He was a devoted father, grandfather and husband.
The child of immigrants, he grew up in Philadelphia and went on to a career as a CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner. He never lost touch with his immigrant roots and took particular delight in Yiddish language and culture.
Like his dear Elaine, he was musically gifted and blessed with a beautiful tenor voice.
He was deeply proud of the personal and professional accomplishments of his two sons, Robert and Steven. He was Jewish to the core and always involved in the life of the Jewish community and synagogue.
He is survived by his sons, Dr. Robert Folberg and Rabbi Steven Folberg, his daughters in law, Amy Folberg and Saundra Goldman and his three grandchildren, Abigail, Ephraim and Shira.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Congregation Beth Israel, 3901 Shoal Creek Blvd. in Austin Interment will follow at Beth Israel section at Capital Parks Cemetery.
