Joseph Albert Sourile, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Lago Vista, TX on March 2, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born to Charles and Josephine Sourile on May 26, 1931 in Chicago, IL.
Joe was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on January 4, 1952 in Chicago, IL. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged on January 3, 1954 in Memphis, TN.
Joe was a Mental Health worker at the Austin State Hospital until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Mary, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and served the church in many capacities. He was also a member of the St. Mary's Council of the Knights of Columbus, and the Men's Club. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Ann; son, Joseph A. Sourile, Jr.; and daughter, Deborah Sourile. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Sourile; sisters Mary Ann Totan and Darlene Sourile; grandchildren, Jessica, Shawna, Douglas and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Deijah and Delaney.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel, 1200 South Bagdad Road, Leander, TX, followed by a Rosary Service at 3:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be recited at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 6100 Lohman Ford Road, Lago Vista, TX, on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
