Joan died peacefully at her daughter's home on Saturday, January 21, 2017, surrounded by her devoted family.
She was born October 2, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas to Elizabeth Alexander and Robert Davenport Rheiner. Joan graduated from Northeast (MacArthur) High School in San Antonio and attended Abilene Christian College.
In 1956, she married Lanny Henninger, with whom she had a long and loving marriage and three children. Joan and Lanny lived in several cities across Texas before moving to Austin in 1971, where Lanny served as the minister of University Avenue Church of Christ until his death in 1997.
In 2000, Joan married Neil Price, a retired IBM executive. Neil and Joan were married for almost 17 years and enjoyed a full and happy life of family, travel, great friends and new experiences.
Joan is survived by her husband, Neil; her three children, Tom Henninger, Lana McDonald (Terry) and Stephen Henninger (Allyson); four granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, her brother, Bob Rheiner (Cherry), and two nephews. She is survived also by two step-daughters, Cathy Dunham (David) and Janie Paschal (Pat), along with their families; three step-grandchildren from Neil's late son, Randy; and a host of dear friends.
Joan was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor; she was kind and full of grace. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends and for a life lived according to her favorite scripture: "A Merry Heart Doeth Good, Like a Medicine." She will be greatly missed.
Joan's family thanks the staff of New Century Hospice for their care and compassion.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Chapel at 3125 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas.
