Jennifer "Jenny" Rose Capps was born March 8, 1946, to Adolph and Hilda Muehr of Rockne, Texas, and grew up in this small Central Texas town. Jenny married the love of her life, John, in 1969 and moved to North Dakota and then back to Texas, shortly before embarking on an adventurous journey of living in the Middle East, Africa, and Russia. She loved her ex-pat life, especially in Dubai, which she watched grow from a fishing village into a sprawling desert glam city. John's job took them to Moscow, Russia, where she admired the history and art, and was inspired to paint and sculpt.
Throughout her life, she volunteered with US troops in the Middle East, worked in Russian orphanages, and assisted African refugees so they could return to their home country. Jenny was at home everywhere she lived; she always devoted her time and resources no matter where she was.
Her Catholic faith was the one constant and guiding light in her life's journey. It was the foundation for the way she raised her family as well as the way she lived every day.
No matter how strong her faith, cancer was a fierce competitor. Twenty-five years ago, she faced her first bout with cancer and almost five years ago, it returned. She fought to the very end with grace and good humor. Jenny passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
Jenny is survived by her spouse of 48 years, John T. Capps; her children Jason (Shelly) Capps and Yvette (Derek) Dimcheff; her grandchildren Andrew Dimcheff, Eliot Dimcheff, Payton Capps, and Harrison Capps; her siblings Roger Muehr, LaVerne Norris, Tom Muehr, Imelda Ott, and Catherine Frerich.
Rest in peace, Jenny. You will be missed. Memories of you as a glamorous wife, a world traveler, a kindhearted friend to all, a great cook, and a loving mother will be cherished for generations.
The funeral will be held at Emmaus Catholic Parish at 1:00 pm on March 10, 2017. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Jennifer Muehr Capps to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road, Unit 100, Austin, TX 78759. https://www.hospiceaustin.org/get-involved-2/donate/
