Obituary

James Olanda Kendrick Jr. was born on May 24, 1937, in Whitney, Texas. He passed away on September 26, 2018, in Austin, Texas.

James spent his early years on his grandmother's farm in Whitney, Texas. At age 11 he entered the Waco State Home, until he left it at age 18. There he studied and read the entire Bible. James entered the U. S. Army at age 20. He earned his GED in the Army, and was last stationed at Fort William D. Davis in Panama. He had an honorable discharge in 1963 from the Army Reserves.

James became a mechanic, and later worked at a family business, Leon's Tile shop in Austin. He married Lori Buck on June 3, 1985, and they lived happily and peacefully in Leander, Texas. James also enjoyed his motorcycle buddies, and would take Sunday drives throughout Texas. James was known for his quiet demeanor, and for treating everyone with deep respect.

James is predeceased by his parents, James O. Kendrick and Bertha Pruitt Kendrick; and his brother Donald Ray Kendrick. He is survived by his wife Lori Buck Kendrick; and his sister Mary Velma Kendrick.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Williamson County EMS department, Cedar Park Hospital, and Seton Williamson Hospital. In lieu of remembrances, the family gratefully requests donations be made of James' memory to the Heart of the Nation Catholic Mass.
