Jimbo, Jimmy Honey, Big PawPaw

Obituary

James Eugene Shively, known to most as Jimbo, passed away in his home on June 18, 2018 at the age of 72. Born in Franklin, Nebraska on December 21, 1945, Jimbo embraced life to its fullest. When he entered a room, the mood instantly lightened. He lived a life of adventure and pushed the envelope in pursuit of it. Sometimes he pushed the envelope too far but he always knew the risks and accepted them as part of his journey. He was a skilled pilot that enjoyed testing the limits of his aircraft and hearing the squeals of his passengers.

Jimbo loved his Savior Jesus Christ, his family, and he was smitten with every child he ever met. Children loved his sweet smile and gentle teasing. He was a father of sorts to many children throughout his life and will be missed by many.

He lived life according to his own rule book. Those rules didn't always make sense to the rest of the world, but his free spirit left a lasting impression on all that knew him.

Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Jo Shively and Murlene and Lloyd Oelfke.

Jimbo will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Beth Hartman, Sarah Kabetzke and Rachael Parker. He will also be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters, Harry (Linda), Michelle (Philip) Bush, Mary Chris (Al) Khatena, Susie (Mark) Mahnken and Philip (Julie). Big PawPaw will be forever remembered by his eight grandchildren, JD, Macy, Catherine Grace, Clare, Emma, Peyton, Carter and Alexandria; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends

A Celebration of Jimbo's life will be held on Friday, June 29 at 10:00 am at Austin Oaks Church, 4220 Monterey Oaks Blvd., Austin
