Obituary

Irene Ruth Kroll Diver of Austin died April 10, 2018 at 4:55pm at the age 98. She was born in Thrall, Texas on March 17, 1920. On December 23, 1940 she married Wesley E. Diver in Rockdale, Texas. She lived in Austin and on Lake Travis. Later she lived in Cedar Park and returned to Austin in 2015.

Irene was a devout Lutheran and active with her church for many years. She was a beautician, homemaker, and caregiver. She was a member of the Austin African Violet Society for 30 years. She grew prize winning violets and attended violet shows in Texas and surrounding states. She and her husband Wes were fire department volunteers for many years. She was also the first woman to be president of the Volente Volunteer Fire Department.

She loved to garden, crochet, needlepoint and dance. She loved hummingbirds and loved the King of Country George Strait so much that she was a fan club member for many years. She even attended one of his live concerts at the age of 91.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Wes, her parents Ernest and Louisa Kroll, sister Allyne Kroll Foster, and 2 baby brothers.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra Ross, son Michael Diver and wife Deborah of Rockdale, TX. Grandchildren Wesley Ross and wife Sharon of New Zealand, Jennifer Flores and husband Phillip of Austin, Jana Avila of Cedar Park, also 10 great grand children, 6 great, great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of St. David's North Austin Medical Center ER, ICU, South Intermediate Care Unit, Kindred Hospice, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Services will be held at 1:00pm on April 15, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 700 West Whitestone Blvd in Cedar Park, TX 78613.
