Obituary

Harry Eldon Wood, Jr. ("Woody"), 59, of Briarcliff, Texas, died peacefully at home with his beloved son and caregiver Travis Harry Wood by his side on January 30, 2019.

Wood was born on August 13, 1959 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Barbara Manning Wood and Harry Eldon Wood. He graduated from De La Salle High School in New Orleans in 1977 and from the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Following many enjoyable years of working at the Bushnell in Hartford CT, Wood was employed in the theater industry as Managing Director in Manchester, Connecticut. After moving to Austin, he became Project Manager at the University of Texas which he proudly held until his passing.

After he graduated from UT, he became a proud member of the Texas Exes. He was also a member of the Semreh Club, the Swordsmen and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Wood had a contagious passion for life, music and sports. His favorites were YES, the Texas Longhorns, the New England Patriots and the New Orleans Saints. However, his most enjoyable times were spent at his home with family, friends and his loyal dog Scout.

Wood is survived by his beloved son Travis, his father Harry Eldon Wood (Gayle), his devoted sister Andree Wood Batt (Jay), his brother Kevin Manning Wood, his nieces Bailey Elizabeth Batt and Kelly Manning Batt, his former wife Miriam, and many aunts, uncles and cousins from Texas, Louisiana and Connecticut. Wood was predeceased by his mother Barbara Ann Manning Wood.

Special thanks to his colleagues at UT/PMCS, the medical community, and his devoted family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Emmaus Catholic Church, 1718 Lohmans Crossing Road in Lakeway, Texas. Interment will be private.
