Obituary

Guilberto Antonio Teodoro Lobato of Cedar Park Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, March 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Barry Cuba officiating. Burial will follow at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas. Visitation will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Leander on Wednesday, April 04, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM.

Guilberto, known as Ted by his family and home town, was born in Antonito, Colorado, to Teodoro Antonio Lobato and Ruby Lobato on June 05, 1933. He went on to graduate high school in Antonito which was run by a teaching order of Catholic Nuns. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served for 20 years and retired in 1970. Using his broad experience as an Air Policeman, he applied for and was hired by the U.S. Department of Justice. He entered as a border patrolman in March of 1971 and was quickly promoted to investigator. He went up through the ranks and was assistant director of the Office of Professional Responsibility until the Justice Department changed it to an Inspector General Office. He was the assistant director until 1989 when he became the Inspector General for the Southern Region. He retired in 1991 and enjoyed working at his various hobbies which included wood working, stained glass, and fishing. He did volunteer work at his church serving as president of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and worked on the Bereavement Committee.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Victoria, his daughter Debra Paez and her husband Fred; his grandson Michael Chilson and his wife, Jenny, his brothers, Jose Lobato of El Paso, and wife Helen; Pedro Lobato of Nevada; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sons, Gilbert Jr. and Edward Lobato; his parents and 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Begum and staff at Cedar Park Regional Hospital; to Grace Hospice and to Texas Healthcare.

Honorary pallbearers are: Louis Lobato, Robert Lobato, Frank Lobato, Steve Lobato, Larry Lobato, Lenny Lobato, Joseph Romero, Glen Gallegos, Walter Gallegos, Anthony Carter, Alan Carter.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
