Obituary

Cedar Park, TX — Grace Marie Baker, a 27-year resident of the Austin area, passed into Jesus' arms, peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday the 16th of June at her home in Cedar Park. Born on February 19, 1926 in Superior, WI, to Harry and Esther Hagberg. Grace received a Teaching Degree in St. Cloud, MN. She then taught 7th grade in public school as well as on a Chippewa Indian Reservation. She fell in love and married Clarence Harvey Baker, a Navy veteran, in April 1951, moved to East Grand Forks, ND, and then Duluth, MN for 30+ years, and finally to the Austin (Cedar Park), TX area in 2001.

She made friends easily, raised her 8 children to love God, and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She was an "adventurous girl" who loved gardening, anything to do with nature, looking for satellites in the night sky, loved playing SkipBo, Chickenfoot, Pigmania and really any board games, LOVED Wheel of Fortune. She always played to win – even against her young children and grandchildren. She was a world-traveler, and was quite a good shot at pistol target practice, which earned her the nickname "Little Annie Oakley".

She is survived by her 8 children, David (Ashfork, AZ), Bruce (Ashfork, AZ), Jolene (Terry) (Lakeland, FL), Cheryl (Phil) (Auburndale, FL), Darrel (Tracy) (Duluth, MN), Paul (Deborah) (Cedar Park, TX), John (Leeanne) (Duluth, MN), and Phillip (Beth) (Douglassville, PA). She is also survived by her brother Charles (Joan) Hagberg of Crosby, MN.

Grace had 23 wonderful grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren who all brought her great joy throughout her life, and especially in her later years.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Leander Funeral Home, 1200 South Bagdad Road .

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Leander Chapel.
