Austin, Texas | Age 95

Obituary

Gloria Price Pfluger died on 8/13/18, her 95th birthday, but her perpetually positive spirit lives on in everyone she touched. Born in Bristow, Oklahoma to geologist Lewis Coryell and Verre Farmer Coryell, she grew up with her cousin Tweeta Gaskin in West Texas and graduated from Midland High. After earning a BBA at UT with honors, Gloria married P. Clift Price in 1945. She followed him as he finished medical training and military service, and in 1953 they moved to Austin where she raised 4 children. There, she found time to volunteer and serve on the Boards of Junior Helping Hand, the Junior League, Travis County Medical Auxiliary, and Planned Parenthood.

When her marriage ended after 36 years, she launched a successful career in real estate with Pohl Brown Associates and later married Erwin Pfluger, with whom she lived for many years on a farm on Pfluger Berkman Road.

She was passionate about UT Sports, and in particular, football, which she watched from the same seats since 1956. One of the highlights of her life was seeing the Longhorns win the 2005 national championship in person at the Rose Bowl at age 82.

She was predeceased by grandson, Price Malone, and husband, Erwin Pfluger. She is survived by sons Bradley Price (Inez) and Lewis Price (Joany), and daughters Coryell Price Duty (David,) and Nan Price Cardiel (Miguel), eight grandchildren-Patrick Malone, Stephen Price, Matthew Price, Paige Cardiel, Fran Cardiel, Josh Price, Meredith Massey, Madeline Massey Carl, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks for the excellent care she received at Westminster Manor and St David's Medical Center.

Memorial service in celebration of her life will be at the chapel of Westminster Manor, 4100 Jackson Avenue at 10 AM on Saturday, 8/18/18. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas.
