Obituary

Gayle Armond Ferguson, age 64, of Austin, Texas, left this life which he so loved to join our heavenly Father on Friday, April 21st, 2017. Born in San Bernardino, CA to Calvin L. R. Ferguson and Carolyn G. Ferguson, both also departed, Gayle graduated class of 1971 from Hillcrest High School in Sumter, SC. He earned his BS/BA in Business Management from the University of South Carolina in 1978 and his Master's in Military Intelligence from the National Intelligence University in 1998.

Gayle spoke 4 languages and had seen the world by the time he was 30 years old. In 1981 he enlisted in the United States Army as a paratrooper for the mighty 82nd Airborne. He bravely defended our country and served 3 tours of duty in Grenada, Panama and Iraq, retiring in 2002 as a Sergeant 1st Class after 22 years of service. In the month of his military retirement, Gayle began a new career in Software Management at Austin Information Systems/Overwatch Textron from which he retired in 2012.

Gayle was a proud American, a successful businessman, an avid fisherman, a devout Catholic, a consummate family man, and a master of fun and adventure, living every second to the fullest extent. His memory will live on through all those he made smile and laugh.

Gayle is survived by his beloved wife, Olguelia Ferguson; their two children, John C. S. Ferguson and Stephanie M. Ferguson; his siblings, Michael R. Ferguson and Jacquelyn W. Ferguson; his nephew, Victor F. D. Suarez; his nieces, Meredith G. Ferguson and Kayla R. Ferguson.

A Wake will be held at 6:00 pm with a Rosary in Gayle's honor at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 10000 David Moore Dr, Austin, TX 78748. A Graveside Service will be held at 9:45 am on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.
