Fred was born to Chiyo and William Sahara in Ogden, Utah, on May 12, 1945. When Fred was three, his family moved back home to West Los Angeles.
Fred met Julie in early 1979 while she was on a two-week vacation to California and filling in for a friend at an optometrist's office.
Fred and Julie got married in Las Vegas and lived and worked in Culver City, California, until they both retired in 2007. In 2008, they moved to be near family in Austin, Texas.
Fred enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, playing baseball, and spending time at home with Julie.
Fred leaves behind his wife Julie, son Anthony Vela, daughter Leah Bardoner, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother Robert Sahara, sister Wendy Mori, many nieces and nephews, and family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish South Congress, 2620 S. Congress.
