Obituary

FRANK DOMINICK CAVALLARO, beloved husband, father, brother and friend age 73, resident of Spicewood, Texas, died suddenly but peacefully on August 14, 2018. Born March 14, 1945 in Melrose Park, Illinois to Catharine and Frank Cavallaro, he grew up with his siblings, Joseph, Clara, Carlo, Louis and Andrew, in Melrose Park. Following his graduation from Proviso East High School, he attended De Paul University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce in 1968.

Frank will always be remembered for his outgoing personality, thoughtfulness and sincerity. He was the perfect host with his wife, Jody, and they enjoyed entertaining their many friends. His greatest treasures were his wife, Jody and his son, Michael (Mike). Frank and Jody met on a blind date and were married two and a half years later, enjoying 29 years of marriage together. Frank deeply loved Jody and Mike. Mike was also the pride and joy of Frank's life, and the legacy of Frank's kindness and zest for life will live on through Mike. Frank never lost an opportunity with his friends to praise Mike, delighting in what a fine man Mike had become, his graduation from St. Edward's University, his graphic design works and exhibits among other accomplishments, and his recent move to Oregon.

After graduation from college, Frank's career led him to North Carolina where he worked for Time magazine before moving to Oahu, Hawaii with Bell Systems and then San Jose. Frank had a long and successful career in the Power Technology industry holding senior management positions in Sales for multiple industry leaders which finally led him to Spicewood, Texas located outside of Austin. He led the Sales group for AT&T Power Systems during the old Bell System breakup and was an energetic leader of the necessary change that followed. He became part of the start-up team of Innoveta Technologies, leading the sales effort that grew the company into an attractive acquisition by TDK Electronics. Ultimately, he joined the Ericsson Power Module Group that was recently purchased by Flex to become part of the Flex Power Group. Throughout his career Frank was a leader, a teammate and a mentor for all his colleagues regardless of his current work position.

An avid tennis player, he was introduced to the sport during the two years he lived in Hawaii. Regularly playing every week at The Hills of Lakeway Country Club, he and the men in his tennis group became close friends. Ever thoughtful, he found a substitute to take his place at tennis for the evening he was taken to the hospital.

In addition to Jody and Mike, Frank is survived by: his brother, Carlo Cavallaro, of Elmhurst, Illinois and his wife Nancy; along with 12 nieces and nephews and their beloved children.

His Funeral Mass will be 2:00 pm, Friday, August 24, 2018, at Emmaus Catholic Church, 1718 Lohmans Crossing, Austin, TX 78734.
