Emery Buchner, 50 unexpectedly passed away on December 31st, 2017 in Austin Texas. He was born in Flint Michigan to William and Norene (Werden) Buchner.

After graduation from Libertyville High School, he earned his Nursing Degree from College of Lake County. Emery worked for Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois until relocating to Tempe Arizona to work for Scottsdale Memorial, where he found his passion for working with cardiac patients. His passion led him to move to Austin Texas to help heal the children at Dell Children's Hospital. It was here that he met the love of his life, Julie Sanchez. They were married on June 21st, 2014.

Emery was a devoted husband, stepfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved adventure, traveling, rock climbing, pole vaulting, disc golf, soccer, gardening, hiking, kayaking, snowboarding and playing and training his dogs. He enjoyed his active role raising his stepson Alejandro.

Emery is preceded in death by his mother Norene Buchner. He is survived by: spouse Julie Sanchez, stepson Alejandro Solis, father William Buchner, mother-in-law Betty Sanchez, father-in-law T. Y. Sanchez, his sisters Cathy Mardon and Carole (Scott) Ollendick, sister-in-laws Carla (Adrian) Cavazos, Karina (David) Snider, brother-in-law Robbie (Megan) Sanchez, many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends who will miss him greatly, including his best friend John Hundrieser.

---------------
Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for all the love, support and prayers that we have received since the passing of our beloved Emery.

We have been overwhelmed by everyone's love for Emery. His presence on this earth is everlasting. He was very purposeful in his living and the impact that he had on mother earth. There was beauty everywhere and he taught us to look for it, appreciate it, and be engaged in the moment. His greatest gift to Ale and me was teaching us to veer off the beaten path, take a chance, and enjoy the beauty that seemed to be created just for you.

We have established a memorial fund in Emery's honor with Austin Community Foundation. Our hope is to first purchase a bench for Pease Park in his memory. Pease Park is a special place for our family. We have fond memories of playing with Lady, riding our bikes and taking mid-morning walks. The hope of the bench is to encourage you all to take a moment to engage in the beauty that exists everywhere and create your own memories.

Donations to the Emery Buchner Memorial Fund can be made through the Austin Community Foundation. This will be a living fund to support ongoing community needs that were important to Emery.
