Obituary for Eileen Lucille Young

August 19, 1927 - August 19, 2017
Austin, Texas | Age 90

Eileen Lucille Young was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 19, 2017, her 90th birthday. She passed peacefully surrounded by her two daughters and three sons.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wooten L Young; her mother Teresa Shaffer; her brother Gordon E Shaffer; and her grandson Michael E Young.

Eileen was born in Akron, Ohio and spent her childhood there before moving to Texas. She still has numerous relatives living the Akron, Ohio area. She is survived by her five children; Dale T Young of Bastrop, Patricia A Young of Bastrop, Donna K Lyons and her husband Steve of Austin, Larry E Young and his fiancé Peggy Osborne of Bastrop, Gary L Young and his wife Debbie of Bastrop, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Our mother was truly an angel on earth and was the kindest most loving mom that anyone could ask for. She was the bond that held the family together and enjoyed nothing more than family get togethers and the occasional frozen margarita with chips and queso. She was an inspiration to all that met her and she was known for her quick wit and sense of humor, which she displayed often. Our mother loved animals and in her later years developed a fondness for cats as she cared for numerous "neighborhood cats" that would visit her home in south Austin. She was a member of St Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church in south Austin for many years and until the last few years she attended mass there daily. She was a very strong woman and battled courageously to the very end as her illness finally overcame her.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday August 24, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 25, 2017 at St Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Honoring Eileen and serving as pallbearers are: Jim Gallagher, Ron Gallagher, Justin Love, Mark Bjork, and Ken Lyons.

We are deeply grateful for the kindness and compassion from all who cared for her in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the charity of your choice.
