Earline H. Seward passed away peacefully at home in Elgin on August 9, 2017. Earline was born on November 1, 1926, in Kansas City, Kansas, and was the daughter of Pansy Belle Payne and Earl Hazlitt.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Lewis B. Seward, Jr. Earline and Lewis met when they were students at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and Lewis had just returned from serving in the Navy in World War II.

Earline in survived by her son, Lewis B. Seward, III and his wife Carol; daughter, Pat Seward; grandsons, Jacob Seward and his wife DeAnna, Matthew Seward, Benjamin Seward; great-granddaughters, Brandy, Amber, Ava, Jocelyn, Lucy and Molly.

Earline will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, with a great sense of adventure. She was an intrepid traveler and she and Lew lived all over New Mexico, overseas in Baghdad, Iraq, in Utah, in Pecos, Austin, and Houston, and Boston. She and her son and daughter-in-law settled in Elgin in 2012.

She played the piano, was a talented seamstress, knitter, and crocheter, a 200 club bowler, an avid birdwatcher and crossword puzzle solver.

She was a wonderful homemaker and cook, and enjoyed life. Earline and her beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her!

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 2:00 pm.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will also be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 305 West Eleventh Street, Elgin, Texas with Funeral Mass to begin at 11:30 am.
