Obituary for Dunnovan Andrew Yunchi Healy

September 29, 2005 - October 23, 2017
Austin, Texas | Age 12

On the morning of October 23, 2017, the unthinkable happened. Our son, our light and joy, Dunnovan Andrew Yunchi Healy, passed away from this world, at just 12 years old. We never gave up hope, truly believing in our hearts that he would make a full and complete recovery. But in the end, his beautiful spirit, so full of life, moved on to a place where it can soar. Where there is no pain, sadness, fear or suffering. Where he walks hand in hand with God and feels only peace, joy love and freedom. We know that we will be reunited again. Until then, we cherish our memories and the moments when we will feel Dunnovan's presence. He will always be with us. And we will always be with him. Dunnovan loved us with all his heart and soul, and will continue to love us forever, and we in turn will love him always.

Dunnovan lived life exuberantly. His friends and family, including his pups Elvis and Presley, were of greatest importance to him, but he also enjoyed just putting on his headphones and connecting to YouTube, a favorite source of entertainment. Known for his own sense of humor and wit, he truly appreciated the same in others, and his infectious laugh warmed your heart and brought a smile to your face. Dunnovan loved to build and create, whether in an online sandbox like Minecraft or on the beach where he spent every summer vacation. He had an affinity for and connection to water — from the power of the ocean, the fun of a pool, to the comfort of a rainy day.

In his short time on this earth, Dunnovan embraced a truth that takes many of us a lifetime to realize — he was completely comfortable in his own skin and understood that loving yourself for who you are is the key to happiness and a strength that builds genuine relationships. He was a do harm to none, bring joy to others kind of friend, brother and son, the face of courage, a hero who will be deeply and profoundly missed by his mother Christine, his father Brendan, his big sister Brenna, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In honor of Dunnovan's memory, we invite you to make a donation in his name to the blood centers of Austin: or Houston:
