Obituary

Our beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, Dorothy Williams Munyan, 88, passed quietly on September 23, 2018, in Austin, Texas. She was saved and baptized at Trinity Baptist Church, in Austin, Texas.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her siblings, Eleanor, Howard, Kay, and Clarence; and her daughter, LouAnn. She is survived by her brother, Jack; her sons, Paul Sr. and Brian; her daughter, Linda; and her grandchildren: Paul Jr., Michelle, Rachel, Kristin, and Anya. Her many friends at Trinity Baptist Church were also very special to her.

She was born on May 14, 1930 in Wysox, Pennsylvania to Clarence Williams and Lyda Benjamin Williams. She enjoyed playing in the woods with her little brothers while her mother cleaned their home. As an adult, Dorothy spent many years working as an Inspector in factories in the Northeast. In 1981, she moved to San Diego, California, to be with her oldest son, Paul Sr., who worked as a Operations Specialist in the Navy. In 1988, she followed Paul to Austin, Texas, where she would work as a caretaker for many years before retiring.

Dorothy was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading mysteries, watching westerns, and baking her infamous cheesecakes. Her guilty pleasures were New York style cheesecake and shopping for fashion jewelry on QVC.

Dorothy was diagnosed with cancer in 1999. She fought with unwavering resilience, and lived a healthy life for many years as a cancer survivor. Many times during her battle, she stated, "If God is ready to take me, I am ready to go." Though she didn't pass of cancer, we believe she was ready to be with the Lord and rests eternally now with our heavenly father.

To those wishing to honor her life, the family requests you "Live Like Dorothy" - with unwavering resilience, faith in love and goodness, and a spirit of generosity.
