Obituary

Doris Marie Coker Doss, the youngest of seven children, was born in Ben Arnold, Texas on Oct. 12, 1935, to Claudie and Mamie Coker.

If you knew Doris Marie you loved her. She had a very enthusiastic personality and a laugh that could fill a room, but she wasn't shy about giving you her opinion either. She so enjoyed sending birthday cards, Christmas cards and other greetings. If she loved you, it's safe to say you received a card from her a time or two.

Doris Marie loved playing games (especially backgammon), listening to audio books, watching soap operas, and visiting with family and friends. She always had a beautiful smile for you.

Doris operated a daycare from home for many years. She treated the kids as if they were her own. There was no start time or pick-up time, sometimes feeding them three meals a day. She loved teaching them, doing crafts, and loading them up in her station wagon to go on various field trips.

Doris married James Allen Doss Jr. on July 3rd, 1975. They would have been married 43 years this year. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Doyle Wayne Tharp, her sisters Agnes Roberts Nelson and Evelyn Petty, and her brother Dencile Coker.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Millard. Her daughter Rebecca Cabello and husband Gilbert, her step children Wayne Doss and wife Susan, Wendi Hanna and husband Michael, Wesley Doss and wife Martha. She is also survived by sisters, Lillian Shuffield and Nadine Herrin of Leander, Texas, and brother, C.D. "Dewey" Coker of Lake Jackson, Texas. She is also adored by her 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is loved by many nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank you for all who sent a card, made a phone call, cooked a meal or came by to visit.
