Obituary

Doris was born on a rural farm near Flatonia, Texas on March 28, 1925 to Max and Hertha (Suess) Richter. She was the second oldest of six children. She was baptized in the name of the Triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit on April 12, 1925 at her home by Rev. C.A. Neumann from Salem Freyburg.

Doris confirmed her baptismal vows at Salem Lutheran Church, and her confirmation verse was John 4:14. "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."
Doris entered into Holy Matrimony with Herbert Sander from Lincoln, Texas on June 30, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendale, California. The Lord blessed their 69 year union with three daughters.

Doris leaves behind daughters Nancy with husband Wayne Burnop, Kathleen with husband Jim Burnop, and Betty with husband Bob Gilbert; five grandchildren, Robyn with husband Timothy Walsh, Scott Burnop with wife Audrey, Alison with husband Brian Jalufka, Sander Gilbert, and Dessa Gilbert; five great grandsons, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Nehemiah, Caleb, and Daniel; brother Lawrence Richter and wife Burnies, sister Verline Schulze, brother Robert Richter and wife Betty; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bernice and Helmuth Schuetze, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Among those greeting her in heaven were her husband, parents, brother Rubin Richter, sister Pearly Schuetze, and brother-in-law Walter Schulze.

Doris was a homemaker and loved to keep children in her home and at Trinity Lutheran Daycare. She loved to sew and was talented in all kinds of needlework.

She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Austin and St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin. She enjoyed living on 10 acres of land in Paige, Texas, for a few years and also traveling on bus trips with senior groups.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Austin, on Friday, June 2nd: viewing at 11:30 am and funeral at noon. Graveside service will be held at 2:15 pm in Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.

A special debt of gratitude goes to Visiting Physicians, Grace Hospice, and her loving caregivers from Home Care Assistance.
