Don was predeceased by his brother Robert and sister Pamela and by his brother-in-law Humberto Villarreal (wife Diana). He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and friends.

Don was born in Sterling, Colorado on November 2, 1941, the son of the late Harold and Kathareen Harley and remained in Colorado until graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in Civil Engineering. He accepted employment in Austin, Texas and worked there until retirement on June 1, 2001. He earned a Master of Science degree in engineering from the University of Texas while working in Texas.
