Obituary

Debbie Cox of Austin TX. passed away December 14th in Rockhill SC, at Piedmont Medical Center. She is now with her Dad, her 2 sisters and Grandmother. She will be greatly missed by so many.

Debbie was survived by her husband Billy Cox, mother Shirley Merritt, brothers Charles Bartley and John Underwood, daughter Miranda Joyce and husband Steve Joyce, son Travis Park, grandsons Tyler Park, and Kayden Joyce, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends that loved her dearly.

Debbie was born February 4, 1956 at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin TX to Shirley Merritt and John Underwood. She met her Husband in 1981 and about 6 months later on Feb 4, 1982, they married. They were very happily married for almost 36 years. A love like theirs is hard to come by.

Debbie loved to dance, laugh, and just enjoy life. Her favorite past time was watching Lifetime movies, she loved her soaps, and read every chance she got. She would have rather been at home curled up on the couch than out any day. Her and her husband raised their grandson Tyler since he was 3 weeks old, and loved every moment of it. Her mom Shirley Merritt was the center of her world, even from over a thousand miles away she always did everything she could to take care of her. She was the best mother any child could ask for. She always taught her children, honesty, how to take care of their selves, and she gave them a wonderful since of humor.

Debbie was not afraid to work, from the time she was 16 she did whatever it took to take care of her family. She worked anywhere from a waitress to a bookkeeper. Her first job was as a carhop at the Root Beer Stand on Congress Ave. She went to ITT Tech and got her degree in business. From there she worked at ITT Tech as a bookkeeper. She then became a manager at Paisano Mobile Home Community. In November 2014, they made the move to Clover SC. and she was the manager of Glenn at Clover Mobile Home Community, where they planned to retire. She did not make it to retirement; God had another plan for her.
