Obituary

Charles Mark Killgore passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Lakeway, TX at the age of 88 years old. Mark was born on May 22, 1930 in Sweetwater, TX, one of three children born to Charles Boone and Helen Cowsert Killgore, cattle ranchers.

He graduated from Roscoe High School and served in the US Air Force. Mark went on to graduate from Texas Tech University with Honors in Petroleum Geology. After college, Mark immediately went to work for Standard Oil of Ohio/BP and has been a member of the AAPG for the last 60 years as well as being recognized as a Certified Professional Geologist by the AIPG.

Mark soon met Joanne Lindsay, the love of his life, whom he married on June 8, 1957. A few years later, God blessed them with Steven Mark. The family moved across the United States and Canada throughout Mark's 33 year career with SOHIO. His search for oil and gas spanned from Prudhoe Bay to the Gulf of Mexico. Among his many accomplishments, Mark received accolades for his work on the exploration and production of the Weyerhaeuser tracts. After enjoying retirement in Dallas, TX - Mark and Joanne moved to Lakeway, TX in 2013 to be closer to their granddaughter.

Mark loved family above all things, was a wonderful husband, loving father, and granddad. Mark and Joanne were passionate about Dachshunds who have filled their home with love for over 60 years.

Mark served faithfully with the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas for over 30 years as well as the North Dallas Shared Ministries.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Killgore, their son, Steven Mark Killgore (wife Carol Killgore) and their daughter Kacie Killgore of Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Ann Killgore; parents, Charles Boone Killgore and Helen Cowsert Killgore; brother, Joe Donald Killgore and sister, Mary Helen Manire.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Luke's on the Lake Episcopal Church in Austin, TX. A reception lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mark's memory to: Austin Pets Alive, 1156 West Cesar Chavez Austin, TX 78703.
