Obituary for Dr. Charles Albert Elizondo

October 19, 1950 - October 7, 2017
Austin, Texas | Age 66

Dr. Charles Albert Elizondo (aka Dr. Rock and Roll) entered the world on October 19, 1950 born to Rudolph and Ella Elizondo. He went to be with Our Lord on Saturday, October 7, 2017 after suffering a sudden cardiac event. Charlie was a native of San Antonio and was an alumni of St. Paul's Catholic School, Antonian College Preparatory, St. Mary's University and UT Health Science School of Dentistry. He and his wife, Sharon met and fell in love in 1979 while they were both in the Navy in Corpus Christi. From Corpus Christi they moved to Austin, Texas and opened their own dental practice that still exists today. Along with his gift of being a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and dentist his next true love was his love of music. His alias, Dr. Rock and Roll, was true to who he was. From his first high school bands, "The Lynchmen" and "The Strawberry Alphabet" to his last band "The Big Boys Toys" he shared both his talents on a variety of instruments as well as his unforgettable voice. Known for calling and singing Happy Birthday—Elvis style to family members is only one of his many musical hilarious calls. Charlie was an avid health nut and totally dedicated to daily exercise and you "couldn't mess with his routine!". He loved to laugh and make others laugh with his "corny jokes" and comical sense of humor.

Charlie was preceded in death by both of his parents, Rudolph and Ella Elizondo and his precious son, Jeffrey Charles Elizondo. He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Sharon Wylie Elizondo, son, Kenneth Wylie Elizondo, daughter, Sarah Grace Elizondo, daughter-in-law, Kate Heckler Elizondo, grandchildren, Olivia Wyn Elizondo, Cruz Buffalo Elizondo and Everly Catherine Elizondo; brothers, sister-in-law's and sister: Ronnie and Polly Elizondo, Robert and Anna Elizondo, Martha Elizondo Gomez, Donna Wylie, and Rhonda Wylie Huggins as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlie will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. May he rest with Our Lord and Blessed Mother eternally.

A Mass of Resurrection for Charlie will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at Emmaus Catholic Church, 1718 Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway, TX, 78734. All are invited for a reception celebrating his life immediately following the Mass in the Parish Hall.
