Bobbie Ruth Thomas Green was born on August 27, 1929 in Bell County, Texas and joined the church triumphant on February 11, 2017 in Pflugerville, Texas.
Her husband of 58 years, Robert "Bob" Green and her parents Will and Edna Southerland Thomas preceded Bobbie in death. Her daughters, Beverly Green Tune and her husband, Bill, and Mira Green Ratcliff and her husband, Gary, survive her. She leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Thomas Tune and his husband, Andrew Hunter Turnbow, Andrew Ratcliff, Sean Ratcliff and Renee Ratcliff.
Bobbie taught eighth grade history at Del Valle Middle School for 24 years. She loved her career and was proud of the many students she had the opportunity to teach. As her husband's job moved the family around, Bobbie also taught in other school districts around Texas.
Bobbie loved gardening. Must have been something from her childhood on the farm, but she loved to dig in the dirt. She had vegetable gardens galore. She loved flowers. She always had gardens full, not to mention potted plants around. But she didn't just grow veggies and flowers, she cooked and arranged.
Bobbie had a knack for placing flowers in vases and wreaths. At one time she belonged to a Garden Club so her lovely snapdragons and irises were on display. She made several wreaths for the front door, not to mention the many that she gave away.
However, Bobbie's greatest gift was cooking. Her way of demonstrating love was through feeding her family. Often she would make what each person was craving even if that meant 4 or 5 different items. Everyone loved her cornbread dressing at Thanksgiving. No one could improve on it. Of course, those chess pies were always a hit at Thursday fellowship at Crestview United Methodist Church.
Bobbie lived a long, good life, proud of her daughters and grandchildren. She would have moved heaven and earth just to care for her family. She adored her husband and treasured their time together, missing him terribly following his death in 2008. Bobbie will be missed.
