Robert M Abraham, age 92, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior early Thursday morning, April 13, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Robert, known as Bob, was born in Lemoore, CA, on August 27, 1924. Bob is predeceased by the love of his life, wife, Rosalie Rothbauer Abraham; mother Jeanette Havard, father, Russell Abraham, and step-father, Carl Havard and sister, Barbara Abraham Suggs. Bob is survived by daughter, Pamela Abraham Retoff, son-n-law, Joseph Daniel Retoff, brother in law, Robert Suggs, cousin, Elizabeth Jahn nieces and nephews and 2 sons.
Bob grew up in Houston Texas, graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and then enlisted in the service to defend his country.
Bob faithfully served in the United States Army Air Corp, 469th Squadron and was in numerous European theater Campaigns during World War II including Normandy, D- Day. He attended the University of Houston upon his return from the war. Later Bob faithfully served as VFW Commander of his post in Kilgore, TX. It was his mission to help all in need however he could.
Bob moved to Kilgore Texas in 1970 to pursue a career in the oil and gas business with Johnston-Lawrence Co where he and Rosalie remained after retirement. His yard was his relaxation and it was always beautiful with azaleas and dogwood. He directed his activities to his church, Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Kilgore where he and his dear friend George Heil helped with delivering sermons, church upkeep and care giving to the congregation until they were blessed with their permanent pastor, Rev. Dr. Jayson S. Galler. It was Dad's joy to serve this church and community any way that he could.
Dad also was lovingly known as "Papa" at Cedar Ridge Alzheimer's Care Center in Cedar Park, TX where he and Rosalie spent many years. He will be remembered for his giving heart, a tenacious spirit (which means he loved to have fun, give you a hug and make you smile!). With the deepest gratitude Papa and I thank ALL of the amazing care givers at Cedar Ridge Alzheimer's Memory Care Center in Cedar Park, Texas. Papa and God know who you are - beloved members of our family who give selflessly to all who come your way in need. Love forever from your little girl, Pamela.
